She was divorced from Oakley Robertson. Obituary for Dorothy follows: Dorothy D. Thorne Carpenter 82, of Palestinbe, died Friday morning at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Wirt County, a Daughter of the late Wirt Thorn Jr. and Clara McFee Thorne. She was a former elementary school teacher in the Wirt County School system having taught at the Calm School, and had been employed as a laboratory technician at the American Viscose Corp. She was a longtime member of the Palestine United Methodist Church and was a member of the Elizabeth Beauchamp Chapter, the Daughters of American Pioneers and was past counsellor of the Palestine Chapter of the Daughters of America and was a member of the Women's Club of Elizabeth. She was a 1926 graduate of Elizabeth High School and lived most of her adult life in Wirt County. She enjoyed traveling and lived several years in Rochelle, France. She is survived by one brother, D.M. (Tom) Thorne of Palestine, two sisters, Dana Perkins of Palestine and Margery Brooks of Front Royal, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, a former Wirt County Sheriff, Corbett B. Carpenter, in 1964. One brother Harold E. Thorne and one sister Vera Thorne Roberts. Services will be 2pm Tuesday at the Busch Funeral Home in Elizabeth, with the Rev. Paul D. Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Thorne addition, Palestine.
