Newspaper Obituary:
Died- At his home about two miles east of Weeping Water, April 2, 1906, Mr. Peter Anderson, aged 69 years, 6 months and 24 days.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church last Friday at 2 pm. and were conducted by Rev. S. I. Hanford. The services were attended by a large concourse of people.

Mr. Anderson was born in Mjang, on the Island of Als, then belonging to Denmark, but now under German rule, September 8, 1836. He came to America in 1860, then a young man of twenty-four, and lived for fourteen years in Door County, Wisconsin. In 1874 he moved to Illinois, in which state he lived for fifteen years, coming from there to Cass county, Nebraska, in 1889, where the remainder of his life has been spent.

In 1860, Mr. Anderson was married to Annie Marie Johnson. To them were born seven children, of whom three died in Illinois [Eliza, Georgina, name unknown], and the remaining four, two sons [Andrew, Peter Jr.] and two daughters [Mary, Christena], are living and reside here.

In March 1871 Mrs. [Anna Marie Johansen] Anderson died, leaving her husband alone to care for his family of small children.

In 1872, he married as his second wife, Elizabeth Lottie Christiansen, who survives him. To them were born five children, one son and four daughters. Two of these, the son [name unknown] and one daughter [Annie Anderson Wagner], have died, leaving three daughters still living [Jennie, Elizabeth, Dosena].

In this brief sketch we can see how the passing years have brought to Mr. Anderson not only a large measure of blessing, but also, the severe training of sorrow. But all who knew him recognize that these sadder experiences of his life have been borne in the spirit of faith and resignation, so that they have done much to help develop that nobler character which he possessed, and which endeared him to all who knew him. As the angel of Death came again and again to the home, summoning one after another of his loved ones, until the little flock of children had been reduced nearly one-half, and the faithful wife of his youth had been called to join them in the heavenly home, he bore the sad discipline of such heavy trials with that patience and fortitude which is the crowning glory of Christian character.

During all these years of his long life, Mr. Anderson has been an active and helpful member of the Danish church, and he has adorned the profession he has made by living a faithful and consistent life, until today his name stands in the thought of all as the synonym of uprightness and integrity in all the relations of life.

While the end came after only a few days sickness, it did not find him unprepared for the last great change, which has ushered him into the presences of his Maker, there to hear the "well done," of his faithful. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works to follow them."
