KINGSPORT - Mildred Violet Vaughn, 101, passed away during the morning hours of Monday (April 2, 2018).

Mildred was born on January 30, 1917 to the late James & Ora McKenzie in Kingsport, TN.

Mildred worked as a spinner at Eastman Chemical Company. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and until her last days, she enjoyed reading and working her Sudoku puzzles. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Vaughn; sister, Juanita Johnson; and brothers, J. Glenn McKenzie and Ralph McKenzie.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Barbara Carpenter & Bob, Linda Worley & Mark, and Ilene Benton & Kelly; step-son, Ronald Vaughn & wife Patsy; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will greet guests and share memories on Friday (April 6, 2018) from noon to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel with Brother David Dotson officiating.

Mildred will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband on Friday (April 6, 2018) at 3 p.m. at Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery (1934 State Route 704 Gate City, VA 24251).
