71, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the St. Joseph-Mt. Sterling Hospital. He was born in Korea, Kentucky on January 16, 1944 the son of the late Dailey and Josephine Craft Carpenter. He was a retired construction worker and builder. His passion was being a musician. He loved to play and sing with his band, New Southwind, and travelling as a musician for Rev. Rick Fouts. He was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church in Vancleve, KY and board member for Friends of Bluegrass at Meadowgreen Park. He also loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Cherie Reeves Carpenter of Jeffersonville, KY; a step daughter, Anna Reeves of Jeffersonville, KY; a sister, Kathleen (Wayne) Milton of Jeffersonville, KY; two brothers, Jesse (Geraldine) Carpenter of Dayton, OH and Dailey (Elva) Carpenter, Jr. of Middletown, OH; two grandchildren, Jaden Chase Slone and Cameron Trace Slone; two brother in laws, Roy Martin and Herman Chambers; and very special friends, Lovell (Vicki) Stevens of Frenchburg, KY, Jimmy, Cathy and John Daulton of Frenchburg, KY and Rick Fouts of Salem, IL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Joy Carpenter; a brother, Howard Carpenter; and three sisters, Oga (Don) Stevens, Stella Marie Martin and Maxine Chambers.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Sterling with Revs. Lovell Stevens, Herman Chambers and Beaver Davis officiating and burial following in the Chambers Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday evening from 5- 9 PM at the Taul Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Phillip Chambers, Roy Martin, Beaver Davis, Jerry Hensen, Larry Williams and Allen Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Evans, Robbie Conn, Danny Carpenter, Larry Carpenter and Rick Wasson.
