A Finnish Olympic gold medalist. He was a skater, and won his gold medal in the pairs skating with his wife Ludowika at the Antwerp Games of 1920. This event was held as part of the summer Games, with the winter Games starting in 1924. With his wife he also won the world pairs championship in 1911, 1914, and 1923.
