HAWKINS
Mrs. Belva Lockwood Hawkins, 75, of Van Ave., died at 1:30 a.m. today [Jan. 16, 1981] at the Heritage Manor. She had been in failing health four years.
A charter member of the Priscilla Club of Morristown, Mrs. Hawkins also belonged to the Fountaintown Tuesday Club and the Shara-Lyke Club of Shelbyville. She also was a member of the West Street United Methodist Church and its Women's Club and United Methodist Women.
Born Feb. 22, 1905 in Gwynneville, a daughter of Lindley H. and Cora (Swain) Pitts, she was married April 7, 1928 to Ralph Hawkins, who died Oct. 28, 1977.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Sue Ann) Muth, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Donald (Jackie) Polakoff, R.R. 6, Shelbyville; three sisters, Mrs. Alta Nelson and Mrs. Dorothy Nigh, both of Morristown, and Mrs. Margaret Gardner, Shelbyville; and five grandchildren. A sister preceded in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Carmony Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Wood officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
