Charles Roy Bowles, age 83, passed away August 12, 2004 at his home in Elk Ridge, Utah.

He was born December 15, 1920 in Nephi, Utah, to Leo and Bertha Leah Bowers Bowles. He married Melvina Stanley October 2, 1941 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 23, 1942.

He served three years during World War II in the Army/Air Force, eighteen months in Italy. Upon returning he worked as an automobile mechanic and a custodian. He and his wife moved to Springville, Utah, in 1956 where they raised their five children. They have lived in Elk Ridge for the last two years. He enjoyed serving in numerous church positions. He was a volunteer fireman and loved woodworking, hunting, fishing and going for rides, especially out west.

He is survived by his wife, Melvina; children, Carolyn Adamson, Marilyn (Terry) Frost, Maxyne (Lee) Haskell, Christine (Scott) Hill, Chuck (Linda) Bowles; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Lenora Davis. He was preceded in death by sister, Mildred Greenhalgh; brothers, Spencer Bowles and Max Bowles; granddaughter, Amy Haskell.

Funeral services were held August 16, 2004 in the Elk Ridge 5th Ward. Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
