Jon is survived by his parents; his sisters Bonnie, Tammy and Debbie; his brother Alvie; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Jon was born at 4:31 AM in Colorado Springs on June 2, 1971 to Alvie L. Simmons and Bonnie J. Stephens. Nearly small enough to fit in his father's hand that morning, his parents were in awe and even some fear of his humble size.
Quick to thrive, Jon grew strong and happy. A cheerful child from the start, Jon was blessed with the 'Gift of Gab' and loved to make friends, tell jokes and play games. Whether it was chores or play, he was always ready to participate. Early on, teachers, fellow students and family alike took note of Jon's eagerness to learn and his strong academic ability and intellect.
Jon loved people. All who knew him felt the warmth of his heart, his friendly spirit and his willingness to help out. Jon also had a love for animals of all kinds and a deep regard for nature, and loved time spent outdoors. A Jack-of-all-trades, he enjoyed hard work and many benefited from his earnest help. He was partial to music and movies, and was an enthusiastic Denver Broncos fan, but nothing made him happier than spending time with family and friends.
Jon will be missed for his generous spirit and his ready smile.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 2 Pm to 4 Pm with a remembrance service to begin at 2:30 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd.
