Elizabeth R. Brawley was the daughter of John W. and Sarah (Sayre) Brawley. Elizabeth's father died when she was almost 13 years old. Three years later at the age of 16, Elizabeth married Wesley Tippie on 25 March 1858, in Athens County, Ohio. Wesley died 20 October 1876, aged 42y, 9m, 29d. He is buried at the McDougal (church) Cemetery in Ames Twp., Athens County, Ohio. The name "Elizabeth" is engraved on Wesley's tombstone as his wife, but she later married Dorcus E. Wheeler on 18 June 1879. Dorcus died 30 Mar 1928, aged 85 years, a resident of Jefferson County, Illinois.

The offspring of Wesley and Elizabeth were: Wesley Addison, John A. , Nettie May, Carlos Brawley, Warren Ephram Tippie. Nettie May (Tippie) Birkhead is buried at the Sugar Camp Cemetery, the same cemetery where her mother and half-brother Frank is buried.

The offspring of Dorcus E. and Elizabeth were: Frank D, Edmond Lyon, and Dale Brawley Wheeler.

Elizabeth's son Frank D. died months before she died and they share the same tombstone.

Dorcus was the son of E. Wheeler and Rachel Lyons. After Dorcus's father died, Rachel married Nicholas Border. Their combined families created a very large family. They lived in Ames, Athens, Ohio. I suspect that Dorcus followed his sister Lucinda that married John Hughes (in Ames) to Moore's Prairie, Jefferson, Illinois.

Elizabeth had a brother that served in the Civil War, but he is not included on any memorial I can find, and I do not know the exact year he died or where he is buried. His name was Patrick Leander Brawley. He was born about 1838 in Athens County, Ohio and died about 1895, probably in Roxabell, Ross County, Ohio, or near Rome, Athens County, Ohio. He married Margaret Hamble, 8 October 1866. He served the Union as a private in the infantry from 5 August 1862, until 29 June 1865, for 2 years, 10 months, and 24 days. His wife Margaret survived him, but I haven't found her death record. Patrick and Margaret had no live births.
