Helen L. Buckley, 90, of New Castle, passed away Friday, Jan. 30,2015 at Hickory Creek of New Castle.

She was born on June 21,1924 in Westport, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mamie (Tarr) Stegner.

Helen attended New Castle schools and was employed with Marsh Supermarkets for 32 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Christian Reflections (formerly the Maranatha Class). Helen was active at the Henry County Senior Center, Bridge and Euchre Clubs, a member of the ladies golf league and an avid bingo player. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and their family vacations at Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She is survived by her children: Ronald (wife Sandy) Brooks of New Castle, Sharon (husband John) Stephens of Mooresville and Marla (husband Jim) Johnson of New Castle; grandchildren, Brent (wife Stephanie) Brooks and Mike Brooks both of New Castle, Julie (husband Brian) Justus of Mooresville, Jeff Stephens (Amie Jones) of Avon, Jenny (husband Robb) Thompson of Plainfield and Joe (wife Kerri) Stephens of Lantana, TX, Heath Johnson (Jennifer Fullhart) of Frankfort, Carrie (husband Danny) Hubble of Pendleton; great-grandchildren: Brandon Brooks, Brittney Brooks, Amanda (husband Aaron) Botsford, Ashley (husband Caleb) Gibbons, Justin (wife Kelsey) Stephens, Brendon (wife Jennifer) Justus, Breanna (husband Andrew) Bondurant, Sarah Knop and Hannah Knop, Noah and Makenna Hubble; great-great-grandchildren, Ayden and Alec Botsford and Evelynne and Benjamin Gibbons and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Buckley; a grandson, Scott Brooks; brothers, Howard, Clyde Jr., William and Norman Stegner; and a sister, Dorothy Browning.

Funeral was Feb. 4,2015 at Sproles Fanily Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial was in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
