Bobbie Claire Goodman, 88, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 5:44 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Vigo Co, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, Cumberland Co, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery next to her husband.
Bobbie Claire was born on August 24, 1926 in Jewett, Illinois the daughter of Lucien “Bob” and Justine (Goldsmith) Bowman. She married Charles “Chuck” Goodman on May 19, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1998. Surviving are her daughters Dana Lu (Ben) Harlan of Terre Haute, IN and Darice (Rick) Palmier of Los Cruces, NM; grandchildren Ben E. Harlan II, Jetta Jaye (Wade) Harlan Stimac, Jami Clarice (Rich) Harlan Schroeder, Lauren Elise (Justin) Palmier Peter and Justin Richard (Emily) Palmier; great grandchildren Benjamin Payton Harlan, Charles Gavin Schroeder, Addison Taylor Stimac, Bailey Paige Stimac and Johna Lu Haltom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, and her parents.
Bobbie Claire worked in Greenup at the Dutch Pantry and Arndt’s Dime Store. She also spent some time as a reporter for Channel 10 and the Tribune Star. She especially loved her volunteer work and was very active in the Historical Society. She enjoyed genealogy and the history of Cumberland County. She was considered by many to be THE Greenup Historian.
She had a passion for raising and showing Scotty dogs and loved attending dog shows.
Memorials may be to the Greenup Historical Society or the American Cancer Society.
