Mary is recorded with her parents in the 1860 census at Pomfret, Windham, Connecticut

Mary married on 17 May 1864 Randolph Marshall Clark {born 6 Aug 1835 at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, died 11 Sept 1873 at Dedham, Norfolk, Massachusetts} at St Mark's in the Bowery, Manhattan, New York, New York. Her father, Reverend Alexander Hamilton Vinton was the officiating clergyman.

Randolph and Mary are recorded on the 1865 Massachusetts census and the 1870 census in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.

In 1880 and 1900, Mary {a widow} is in Pomfret, Windham, Connecticut. In 1910 Mary V. {widow of Randolph M.} is listed in the Washington, District of Columbia city directory at 1228 Connecticut Avenue, Northwest.

In 1911 Mary rebuilt Glen Elsinore, the family mansion in Pomfret, Windham, Connecticut, the original having been destroyed by fire. The 30,000-square-foot, three-story brick and stucco mansion has almost 40 rooms, including 14 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms, and it has 15 fireplaces. The current building replaced a wooden building that Mrs. Clark built on the site in 1877, which burned in December 1910.

The Clark family wealth came from investment in copper mines in the late 19th century.

Randolph and Mary were parents of two daughters, Eleanor Vinton and Ethel Randolph.

Inscription

Born October 14th 1840
Carpe Diem
Died November 7th 1929

Here lies the body of MARY VINTON CLARK
Keeping through all time the beauty
her departing spirit gave to it.
She was the widow of
Randolph Marshall Clark
and the daughter of
Alexander Hamilton Vinton, D.D.
And of Eleanor his wife.
She died at Glen Elsinore in Pomfret,
in the 90th year of her age
Graciousness and dignity distinguished
her, and a charm that none could resist.
She loved beauty and created it in all
about her. She was quick to sympathize
and generous in soul and in deed.
Loyalty was her very essence and she
was incapable of long remembering an
injury. Her faith in the redemption of her
saviour was complete and she passed
with joy to the rest that remains for her.

With long life he has satisfied her
and shown her his salvation.
