Our beloved husband, father, son and brother, David R Messersmith passed away suddenly of heart failure on July 17, 1998. He was 51.
Dave was born June 7, 1947 in American Fork to Vernal D. and Cora Richins Messersmith. He married Rose Herrera, they were later divorced. He married Susan Emery on March 15, 1975 in Elko, Nevada, On June 16, 1998 they were sealed for time and eternity in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
Dave grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He was active in sports and loved the scouting program. He attended Utah State University and the UVSC. He was a member of Utah National Guard for many years and served during Desert Storm in Germany for 6 months, Dave was a miner at heart and it was one of his favorite jobs, He worked at Geneva in the rolling mill, as a trucker, and was currently employed at the Utah Department of Corrections in outside enforcement as a police officer.
David was dedicated to everything he loved, His land, his animals, the outdoors and his garden. But his greatest dedication went to his family. He gave everything he was to his wife and children, He is survived by his wife, Sue of American Fork; sons, Bryon Whitener, Las Vegas, Nov.; Elder Bryce David Messersmith currently serving in the Asuncion, Paraguay Mission; Cody Vern Messersmith, American Fork; daughters, Suzann (Todd) Sorenson, Logan; and Shae Messersmith of American Fork; grandchildren, Ace and Alex Whitener, Las Vegas, Nev,; parents of American Fork; sisters, Gaylene (Mike) Neil, American Fork; Diane Dayley, Pleasant Grove; and numerous family members.
There is no way to express how much he will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral will be Thursday, July 23, 1998 at 11;00 a.m. in the Harbor Second Ward Chapel, 600 S. 100 W. American Fork. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E, Main, Lehi, Wednesday evening 7- 9 pm, and at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Cedar Fort City Cemetery.
