On December 10, 1928 a baby girl came on the scene at Cushing, OK to the family of Mack and Ida White with sister, Betty Jo and brother, Billy Mack.

Jeannie enjoyed a happy, care free childhood in a small town of Cushing, OK, where her family owned and operated an automobile dealership.

She was a very talented singer and after high school she attended and graduated from Stevens College at Columbia, MO. She was a vocal music major and she sang her entire life. After school she lived in Tulsa for a short time, where she met and married Ed Ballou, a Health Insurance Manager for New York Life. They were transferred to the Memphis region and settled in Whitehaven, where she made many friends through Marie’s Dress Shop, Whitehaven Presbyterian Church, Memphis Prep School, and the Jaycees.

After Ed’s death in 1985, she moved to Germantown and later married Dr. E.O. Thomas who died in 1995. In Germantown she made many more friends through The Summit Club, Josephine Circle, Christ Methodist Church, Grace Evangelical Church and many bridge clubs.

Jeannie had no children of her own but acquired five step children, Mary Joyce Thomas Sandridge, Janet Thomas Davis, Terri Thomas Wilson, Gene Thomas and Tim Thomas.

In addition to family she was preceded in death by her step daughter, Terri Thomas Wilson.

Jeannie is survived by her remaining step children, her two poodle companions, Angel and Little Dude, and Hugh Thomas, her loving and caring husband of 16 years, who through the final three years of her life took her by the hand and led her through a strange, difficult, mysterious, incurable life of dementia until on January 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Jesus Christ, her Savior, whom she loved and worshiped daily, came and took her hand and said come with me and let me fulfil my promise to you. In my Father’s house are many mansions. I have gone before you to prepare a place for you that where I am you may be also. He then carried her away into a bright new home where she has a new body, mind and voice to live in heavenly bliss and sing praises to God forever. Praise God for God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31st at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
