Stone indicates that he died in the Battle of Gettysburg, a corporal in Co. D of the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Year of birth calculated from age at death, 27 years.

Bio note from skye

"Charles Carroll was the son of Martin Carroll and Elizabeth Eaton, and grandson of John Carroll and Mary E Wert. John was the son of Thomas Carrel and Elizabeth Richey, and grandson of Daniel Carrel and Margaret Young. Thomas and many of his descendants are buried in Mentor Avenue Cemetery. Charles' mother, three siblings, and his grandparents are buried here. Charles' father, Martin Carroll, is buried in Mentor Cemetery, in Mentor OH. The monument in that cemetery also lists Martin's wife, the other three children, Charles, and Martin's parents. My guess is that all of them but Martin are actually buried in Mentor Avenue Cemetery but that Martin wanted the whole family memoralized with him in Mentor Cemetery."
