Rena Rose Brown, age 93, of Rice Lake, WI passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

She was born in Chisholm, MN on June 26, 1921 to Felix and Lucy Roy. She graduated from Chisholm High School in 1939 and graduated from Hibbing Junior College in 1941.

She married her college sweetheart on January 23, 1943 in Chisholm, MN. They had 2 daughters, Barbara (Brent) Burns and Peggy Brown (Richard) Meyer (deceased); 4 grandchildren, Scott (Patti) Burns, Kristin (Shawn) Hagberg, Richard Meyer and Sarah (Dan) Thompson; and 2 great-grandchildren, Paige and Morgan Hagberg. While Russ was serving in World War II she was employed as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards in Hibbing.

They moved to Rice Lake with their daughter in 1950 when her husband started his new job as manager of WJMC. She was active in her daughter’s Catholic School and Church. She was a member and officer of the Catholic Women’s club. She also taught Wednesday night religion classes. Rena was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, a fifty year member of the Fortnightly Club where she was treasurer, secretary and vice president, she was a life and charter member of the LMC Auxiliary and active in volunteer work and she worked with her husband at WJMC and at the Village Dell.

Rena enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, playing bridge and entertaining at home and at the lake. She was a warm, loving, caring person and a friend to everyone. Her life was dedicated to her family and spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Brown on December 8, 2014; daughter, Peggy; parents; brother, John; and her sister, Edith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, WI, Fr. James Powers officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Monday at the Church.

Memorials would be appreciated to St. Joseph Catholic School or LMC Hospice.
