Hattie Marie Calloway Rogers, 81, of Fairmont, was called home Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her residence. She was born on August 16, 1933 in Chaplin Hill, Osage, daughter of the late John and Alberta Hill Calloway.
She was married to the late William H. Rogers, Sr. until his untimely death in July 1999.
Hattie worked at Fairmont State University as a custodian, she also worked various jobs while taking care of her family.
She is survived by her son William H. Rogers, Jr. of Colorado, her daughter Gloria J. Rogers of Fairmont and her five grandchildren, Mark Johnson, Olivia Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Maya Rogers, and William Alex Rogers. She is also survived by her brother Leroy Calloway of Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Everett, Joann Campbell, Josephine Smith and her brother John Calloway, Jr.
Friends may call at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 135 Maple Avenue Fairmont from 5-8:00 P.M. on Sunday. A Homegoing service will be celebrated on Monday February 2, 2015 at the church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kevin Carpenter officiating and the eulogy done by Rev. Wesley Q. Dobbs. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
