Edna Richardson Welch, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Abilene, TX.

Funeral services will be 2:00p.m., today, Friday, January 30, 2015 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Edna was born on January 13, 1924 in Mineral Wells, Texas to the late Walter Richardson and Ellen Brassington.

She graduated from Mineral Wells High School and furthered her education by attending Baylor University Southwestern Seminary.

Edna married Jack Welch on December 18, 1945 and moved to Abilene from Germany in 1968.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene and loved to sing.

Edna was involved with USO and sang for the troops during WWII. She was also a member of the Abilene Women's Club and sang at several retirement homes and church services and entertained folks from 1998 until recently. Edna even took voice lessons up until her 90's.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jack L. Welch; her brother, Robert J. Richardson; and her sister, Mary Ruth Jacks.

Survivors include her son, Tim Welch of Alvarado, TX; a brother, Walter J. "Dub" Richardson of Roswell, NM; grandchildren, Erin Cofer and husband, Cody of Ft. Worth, and Benjamin Welch and wife, Jessica of Midland, TX.
