TERESA (TERRY) HARVEY
Nov. 11, 1927 - Jan. 19, 2015

Teresa Elizabeth Harvey, age 87, passed away peacefully at Riverside Community Hospital after a sudden illness on Monday, January 19, 2015. She was surrounded by family. Terry was born on November 11, 1927 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Mary Helena (formerly Cole) and Thomas Elgie Daly. Terry married William (Bill) Harvey in 1947 and they moved to California. As lifelong residents of Riverside, CA, they were devoted in marriage for 63 years. Survivors include her daughter Diane; sons Edward, Thomas and Robert, and her sister Marie Burke. Terry was very proud of her eleven grandchildren: Kelly, Jolie, Keith, Sarah, Richard, Scott, Michelle, Andrew, Monica, Sydney, and Zachary. Additionally there are seven great-grandchildren: Rowan, Jasper, Solomon, Olivia, Harper, Sadie, and Leah. She has one great-great granddaughter, Aurora. Terry was predeceased by her husband Bill, son David, and brother John (Jack) Daly. As a child in Toronto, Terry loved ice skating and growing up around Lake Ontario. Later, she recalled how exciting and fun it was working in a big city during wartime. After settling in Riverside, she became a United States citizen and started a family that spanned the entire "baby boomer" generation. She loved baking, reading, and her menagerie of pets. For the last 59 years Terry was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Arlington and enjoyed volunteering at the school for hot lunch days, weekly fish frys during Lent, the snack bar during CYO baseball season, and church construction fundraising events. She was a Cub Scout Pack 110 den mother as well as committee member for the annual church picnic and carnival. She loved the dance parties in the church hall. Terry's favorite pastime was genealogy, having spent decades traveling, researching, and writing the family lineage. She was a member of both the Riverside and Ontario Genealogy Societies. Likewise, she was a member of the Riverside Historical Society and decorated her home with related art and books. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Ave., Riverside. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 30 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3774 Jackson St. at 10:00 am. Burial at Riverside National Cemetery will be held in private at a later date. Friends and relatives are welcome at the Visitation and Funeral Mass, and receptions following.
