Terry Lee Jeffries was born December 15, 1947 at Santa Cruz. California to Orvall and Bonnie (May) Jeffries. He died April 25, 2006 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 58 years. Terry lived with his family in California until he was two years old, when he moved with them to Pickens, West Virginia. They resided in West Virginia for three years before moving back to California where he went to school. At the age of seventeen, he began his career in roofing. He did this for several years, before taking a job in the mobile catering business. He decided he liked roofing better, a job he continued for the next twenty-five years. During his career he was a roofer in Santa Cruz and Woodland, California. He then moved to Burke, South Dakota to continue his roofing profession. Some of the jobs he was proud of included the homes of Clint Eastwood and Kim Novak in California and many well known people here in South Dakota. Terry had many hobbies which included bicycle repair, jigsaw puzzles, woodworking and research on movie stars. Terry was a jolly and happy person with a ready smile, always a kind word and a willing hand. Though he was not a church goer, Jesus was always in his heart. He was not blessed with children of his own, but came to South Dakota with his brother Donald, to help raise Donald's daughter, TyAnn, who affectionately called him "Uncle Daddy". Terry was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Bonnie of Mound City, SD; his older brothers: Robert of Lodi, CA and Donald of Burke, SD; his younger sister, Susan of Mound City, SD; and several nieces, nephews and their families. Terry will be missed by his family, but they are comforted with the thought that he is resting peacefully. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Inurnment will be at a later date.
