James Pumphrey
James Benton Pumphrey, 73, of Prattsville, died July 9, 1999, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center at Little Rock.
Born April 14, 1926, at Prattsville, he was a son of the late Alfred Miller Pumphrey and Lola Benton Paxton Pumphrey.
He was a self-employed registered land surveyor, a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharlette Pumphrey-Lunsford of Sherwood; a sister, Blanche "Topsy" Whiteside of Sheridan; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church at Prattsville with the Revs. Vernon Bass and Mike Prince officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Buie Funeral Home at Sheridan.
