Maria (Tveit) Peterson, age 89 of Edinburg, ND, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.

Maria was born on June 21, 1925 in Edinburg to the late Christ and Selma (Nygard) Tveit. Maria attended the rural schools of Park River and Lampton, SD No. 122 and began her high school in Edinburg. She was united in marriage to Alvin E. Peterson on November 26, 1948. They made their home in Edinburg. Alvin passed away in 1990 and Maria moved to the Good Samaritan home in August of 2014.

Maria was a charter member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church of Edinburg, Grace WMF, TOPS, and was a member of the Edinburg American Legion Auxiliary and the Forever Young Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Jorgen, Konrad Sr., and Christ, and sister Bertha.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Free Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Garfield Lutheran Cemetery of rural Edinburg in the spring.
