DE LEON — Garland Jack Miller, age 93, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Sears Methodist Center, in Abilene, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 6, 2006 in the Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the De Leon Cemetery with the minister Jackie Auvenshine officiating and music by LaRessie Wilkerson and Vicki Robinett. There will be a family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2006 at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller was born on May 18, 1912 in Comanche County, Texas to the late O. C. Miller and Susie L. Otwell Miller. He married Jewel Spurill on May 11, 1933 in De Leon, Texas.

Mr. Miller was a farmer; he had worked for MKT Railroad, and had formerly worked as a grocer at Sloan's Grocery, JRB Grocery and Golden Oak Milling Company; he had resided all of his life in De Leon; He was a member of the De Leon First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Virginia Faye Duffel and Jackie Nell Franks and husband Jay, all of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Orville Miller and wife Catherine, of Tumwather, Washington; four grandchildren, Michael Duffel and wife Patricia, of Iowa City, Iowa, Mark Duffel and wife Alley, of Austin, Texas, Becky Young and husband Trennon, of Stephenville, Texas and Janet Franks of Dallas, Texas; five great grandchildren, John, Sarah, Lilly, Zack, and Jordan; and one great great grandson, Austin.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jewel Spruill Miller; parents, O. C. Miller and Susie L. Otwell Miller and his step father, S. D. West; a brother Sexton Miller; and a sister, Verlie Miller.
