Mrs. Gibson was born February 7, 1940, in Columbia, the daughter of Wilford Watson and Mary Francis Martin (Crane).
She married Jerry Gibson in October of 2000, in Columbia, and he preceded her in death in March, of 2011.
Mrs. Gibson was a daycare provider in her home for many years. She later was independently employed providing housekeeping assistance.
Dean, as she was known to all, loved to dance, swim, boat, and ski. She treasured time spent with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren. She never met a stranger, and is remembered as having a perpetual smile, and contagious laugh.
Survivors include two children, Norman E. Shives, (Linda) and Lovella D. Lawson, (Charles); three grandchildren, Timothy E. Shives, Elizabeth N. Lawson, and Aaron D. Lawson; and one great-grandson, Dakota A. Shives.
