Melissa J. Freeman, age 49, of Spencer, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the residence of her mother. She was born May 11, 1965 in Delaware County to H. Eugene Barker and Sandra Sue (Davis) Featherston. She was a 1983 graduate of Owen Valley High School. She worked in the office of the Owen Circuit Court. She attended Spencer Methodist Church. She enjoyed helping with campaigning for the Democratic Party, animals, flowers, and spending time with her sons.

Melissa is survived by her husband of 28 years, Kenneth Freeman; her three sons, Jeremiah (Nikota), Isaac, and Luke Freeman, all of Spencer; her mother, Sandra Sue Featherston of Spencer; and brother, Dennis Barker of Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her father, H. Eugene Barker; and her step-father, Donald Featherston.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom High School Scholarship Fund through the Owen County Community Foundation.
