Catherine Stamey Powell, 79,of Morganton died Monday January 26, 2015 at Grace Heights Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Powell was born March 29, 1935 in Burke County, a daughter of the late William C. and Louise Small Stamey. Mrs. Powell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Broughton Hospital in the dietary department.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Julius C. "J.C." Powell.
Surviving are sons, Chris Powell and wife Rita, Steve Powell and wife Terry, Tim Powell and wife Beth and Greg Powell (Linda) all of Morganton, grandchildren Chadd and wife Cindy, Nikki, Devin, Nicholas, Kevin and wife Dana, Kaelin, Kassi, Bryan and wife Samantha, Lauren, Jennifer, and Haley , great-grandchildren, Bryson, Garrett and Alaina.
Funeral Services for Catherine Powell will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday January 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Rev. John Fowler officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
