Jackson - Francis McCabe Ackley, 94, of Cambridge, Town of Jackson, passed away Monday evening, January 26, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Mr. Ackley was born February 19, 1920 at home in Jackson where he was currently living and was the son of the late Charles Henry and Mamie (McCabe) Ackley.

He was a 1939 graduate of Cambridge Union School and had worked on the family dairy until a fire devastated the barn.

Mr. Ackley then purchased the Legrys Jewelry Store in the Village of Cambridge which he operated for 40 years until 2002.

He also drove school bus for the Cambridge Central School for approximately 25 years.

Mr. Ackley had served as the Town of Jackson Judge for 40 years while working the jewelry store and driving school bus.

He enjoyed reading in his later years and was a proud member of the Saratoga Barber Shoppers for 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife, Janet Gifford Ackley; a brother, Charles A. Ackley and a sister, Rachel Mae Ackley Little.

Burial will take place at Woodlands Cemetery in the spring.
