Nina was the daughter of James Henry Berkley and Margaret Edna Odd Berkley, the third of nine children.

Nina and Bob are parents of nine children. Yvonne Marleen, Sherry Ann, Bob Jr., Susan, Walter James, Alan Patrick, Dorothy Marie, and Mary Pearl Paul. Bob and Nina's son Walter James Paul Sr preceded her in death, 8 Oct 1985.
Nina loved children and would babysit for anyone, anytime. She was a great cook and homemaker. Nina loved the out of doors and was a terrific gardener, canned and preserved what she grew and more. She loved to fish and also was happy to clean her catch and those of the rest of the family, then she would cook them up, great eating.
Nina loved to sew and made all the little girls' doll clothes, and a special quilt for all her grandchildren. She taught her daughters, to sew, to embroider, then she found liquid embroidery paint pens, and we all painted.
It was the time of at-home parties for anything and everything; Tupperware, Artex paints, Tiara glass, Stanley home products, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, she loved to give and attend those parties. At Christmas, Nina and her children would bake and decorate dozens and dozens of cookies for her friends and neighbors, the kids delivering them.
Bob and Nina bought a motor home and at first, they took the last three weeks in August every year and traveled, mostly in Michigan and Indiana to see family. After he retired they spent winters in Florida, and made longer trips, which they both enjoyed very much.
