Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Stephen Killion officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Piatt County, the daughter of Floyd and Gertrude Griswold Westbay. She married James O. Hoyt in Danville. He passed away May 2, 1982. She later married Frederick Thompson Sr. in Atlanta, Ga. He passed away June 15, 2004.
Survivors include children, Timothy James (Kim) Hoyt, Clinton; Mark (Jeanne) Thompson, Roswell, Ga.; Walter (Kathy) Thompson, Cary, N.C.; Frederic (Ruth) Thompson Jr., Dalton, Ga.; and Sheila (J. Carney) Thompson-Holland, Stockbridge, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barb Westbay, Decatur; and brother-in-law, Robert (Betty) Hoyt, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Allan Hoyt; two brothers, Jack Westbay and Billy Westbay in infancy; and one sister, Betty Westbay.
Mary graduated from Argenta High School in 1948. She was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Dr. John Warner Hospital Auxiliary and Weldon Springs Foundation. She was the city treasurer for the city of Clinton for eight years and had worked for E. Kent Lumber for 14 years as its bookkeeper.
The family would like to thank Homehelpers, staff at Dr. John Warner Hospital and Dr. Kureishy for their wonderful care during Mary’s illness.
