Dean Shirley Lamb was born March 23, 1927, in Bogard, MO, the youngest child of Rollin and Jewell Shirley. She departed this life on January 26, 2015.

Rollin and Jewell later moved to Humansville, MO, where Dean graduated from high school. In 1949 Dean married H.O. Lamb and moved to Collins, MO, where she owned and operated a beauty shop for many years, and was a member of Coon Creek Baptist Church. In 1977 Dean and H.O. moved to Louisville, KY, and remained there for 8 years. They then moved to Springfield, MO, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Dean accepted Christ at a young age, and until their deaths both H.O. and Dean were active members of Second Baptist Church of Springfield. While in Louisville and Springfield, Dean worked at a drapery and garment manufacturing facility. Dean loved to make potholders to give away to friends and mission groups, thereby being known as “The Potholder Lady.”

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and by H.O. in 2000. Dean is survived by her children, Ron and Rita Lamb of Fulton, MO, Rick and Shirley Lamb of Ozark, MO, Reg Lamb of Enumclaw, WA, and Ranea and Ival Hannah of Springfield, MO; 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Graveside services will be on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Eastlawn Cemetery on East Pythian Street, Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Second Baptist Church of Springfield Mission Fund. The family wishes to express gratitude to James River Care and Rehabilitation for their loving care of Mom.
