He was the son of the late James Frederick Burgin, Sr. and Gladys Brotherton Burgin.
He served in the US Army during Vietnam and retired from the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Don) Estes of Burnsville, Lena Marr of Leicester, and Renee Barnett of Alexandria; grandchildren, Daniel, Amy and Dakota Estes, Jessica and Elizabeth Marr, Amanda Weeks, Jason, Kirsten and Justin Pegg; 7 great grandchildren, brothers, William A. "Bill" (Linda) Burgin of Asheville, John (Cathy) Burgin of Black Mountain and sister, Joy (Terry) Hughes of Black Mountain.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, January 22nd at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
