Reuben was the son of Stukely Westcott III and his wife Anna Wells. Reuben came to Milford, New York, around 1815, bringing his wife and 9 children from Chershire, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. He purchased a farm in the Spoonville District from Stephen Jorden, who originally obtained it from Samuel Bidwell.

Within a few years the number of children grew to twelve, 6 girls and 6 boys, all of whom survived him:

"Andrew, his eldest son, married Hannah Russel.
Polly, his eldest daughter, married Jason Willcox.
Hosea married Henrietta Bates.
Reuben married Wealthy Rose.
Otis, the fourth son, married Sally Morris.
Orissa married Nelson Mumford, a Baptist clergyman.

Leurania married Chester Rockwell, who was a manufacturing clothier."

In 1901 the farm was purchased by Reuben's great-grandsons, members of the Morris family.
