Sylvia Ann Powers, 59, of Quinby, VA passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late William Edwin Powers and the late Emmie Bell Powers. She was a homemaker and member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia P. Santos and husband, Luis, of Painter, VA; three sons, David Sterner and Jessie Sterner both of California and Edward Sterner of Maryland; two sisters, Kathy Betts and Patricia Williams both of Exmore, VA; a brother, Edwin Dale Powers of Quinby; five grandchildren, Curtis Roberts, Jr., David Roberts, Luis Santos, Jr., Devin Daisey and Romulus Winchester. Mrs. Powers was predeceased by a sister, Betty Dawley.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca McGee and Reverend Judith Worthington officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be sent to Sylvia Ann Powers Fund, c/o Doughty Funeral Home, P.O. Box 633, Exmore, VA 23350.
