Ludy L. Leatherbury, 60, of 325 E. Fifth St., died of diabetes Wednesday in Wilmington Hospital.
Mr. Leatherbury was employed by the state Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, in the early 1950s. After that he was employed by Chrysler Corp. in Newark as an assembly-line worker for about 10 years, and most recently, worked at Phoenix Steel in Claymont as a security guard. He retired from Phoenix in 1978 after 15 years.
He attended the St. Paul AUMP Church, formerly in the 1200 block of Apple St.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Anna E.; three sons, Charles H., Ludy M. and Jay K., all of Wilmington; five daughters, Joanne S. Leatherbury, Zelda R. Dorsey and Sheila D. Kinslow, all of Wilmington, Brenda J. Merritt of Newport and Susan D. Gaines of Kileen, Texas; a sister, Rita Brown of Yeadon, PA., a brother, Charles of Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Congo Funeral Home, 201 N. Grave Ave., where friends may call after 9. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, 32nd and Market streets.
