The eldest of the five children of Neal Franklin (Doc) Gillette (1911-1995) and Rosemary Louise Warren (1914-1991), Bruce spent his life in the state he loved, Minnesota. After graduating from Columbia Heights High School in 1951, he spent a few years in military service. In 1960, in Minneapolis, he married Arlene Marie Schaaf, daughter of Joseph Gerald (Joe) Schaaf and Katherine Rose (Katie Bell) Hyndman. The couple had three children: Linda Marie, Joseph N., and Julie Ann. Bruce was a loving person whom all who knew him sadly miss. His pleasures in retirement included working on his family tree and watching and photographing bird life on the river near his home.
