James Jorgensen,88, retired stock grower and farmer, died at the family home of causes incident to age.
Mrs. Jorgensen was born in Mt. Pleasant, Oct. 21, 1861, a son of Jens C. and Christina Christensen Jorgensen. His parents were among the original settlers of Mt. Pleasant in 1859. He was married in Mt. Pleasant Jan. 16, 1895, to Caroline Fredrickson and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti L D S temple.
Mr. Jorgensen was an active church worker, and a member of the High Priest quorum. From 1895 to 1898 he served as sergeant in the First regiment of infantry, Utah national guard. He served many years as a ward teacher and also was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical Assn.
Survivors include his widow, two sons and three daughters; J. Ray Jorgensen, Mrs. Eula J. Seely and Mrs. Rhoda J. Drage of Mt. Pleasant; Douglas Jorgensen of Manti and Mrs. Ruth J. Cox of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Daniel Rasmussen of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Mary J. Seely and William Jorgensen of Castle Dale; 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
