Earl D. Carle, 69, of 117 Scenic Dr., died Monday, October 27th at his home following a long illness.

Born in Brown's Station, NY, he is the son of the late Arthur and Henrietta Legg Carle. He was a resident of Southington, for the past 60 years. Prior to his retirement he was co-owner of B.C. Hardware, co-owner of Boyce Lumber Co. & former purchasing agent for Peck, Stowe & Wilcox Company, all formerly of Southington.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Southington, Co-chairman of the church's Bd. of Education & former member of Plantsville Baptist Church. He was past Pres. of YMCA of Southington, a member of Plantsville Odd Fellows, honorary member of the Bradley Memorial Hospital Bd. of Directors, & an honorary member of Plantsville Engine Co. 2, having served as Secretary.

He leaves his wife Esther Boyce Carle; 2 sons, David Carle of Merrimac, NH, and Richard Carle of West Lebanon, ME; one
daughter, Deborah Lansberry of Hamden; two sisters, Mildred Dare Dare of Orlando, FL and Lorraine Wardell of Norfolk, VA; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Southington with the Rev. Gordon C. Swan officiating. Burial will be at South End Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home.
