Sweetheart of Frank, loving and proud mother to Larry H. (Gail), Judy, Tom (Rhonda) and Charlene (Bruce) Mitchell was able to pass away in her beloved Capitol Hill home of 64 years of causes incident to age. She was the second child of five born to William Wallace and Mary Manson Horne.
She took on a myriad of projects with incredible energy including political campaigns, PTA projects and the Unitarian Church. She co-wrote and published "The Unitarian Church in Utah, 1891-1991." She traveled the world with Dad visiting her mother's homeland, Australia.
She was a capital "D" Democrat. She sent monthly contributions after the elections even if her candidates had not won. She had a strong sense of integrity and fairness. Mom was not a fence sitter or wall flower. She had a keen mind and a wonderful eclectic book collection. She fought hard to have the ERA ratified in Utah.
She had 21 grand, 33 great, and 6 great-great-grandchildren with more on the way. She was preceded in death by parents, four siblings, mother-in-law, Etsa Johnson Talmage, husband, Frank and son, Larry. We cannot express the gratitude we feel for the wonderful care Charlene and Bruce have given Mom the past four years. "Bon Voyage, Mom/Grandma. We love you. Thanks for all you have given to us. We will not forget."
Memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Church 569 S. 1300 E., 2:00 Sat., Oct. 20, 2012. Buffet following. Memorial Contributions can be sent to our Planned Parenthood, 654 S. 900 E., SLC 84102. She chose to donate her body to the U of U Donor Program.
