He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded: WW II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Battle stars, and Army of Occupation medal (Japan). Dedicated and hardworking, he went on to work as an Appliance Repairman at Sears in San Marcos, CA, for 20 years and retired thereafter. He served as a proud member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Gibraltar Lodge No. 58, since June 1982. He also became a highly respected community member contributing to various local volunteer organizations. Most notably he joined the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (R.S.V.P.) in 1995.
