Brady Sr, Lawrence SAN DIEGO -- On Thursday, January 8th, 2015, at 12:00 a.m., the angels called Lawrence home to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was 84 years old. He was born in Tampa, Florida on March 6th, 1930, to the late Gladys and Roberto Brady. The youngest son to a housekeeper and factory cigar roller, he was the 10th of 11 children. He was a man of few words but many actions; a provider, hard worker, disciplinary and enforcer. After serving in the Army for 27 years, he retired in 1973 as a First Sergeant. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded: WW II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Battle stars, and Army of Occupation medal (Japan). Dedicated and hardworking, he went on to work as an Appliance Repairman at Sears in San Marcos, CA, for 20 years and retired thereafter. He served as a proud member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Gibraltar Lodge No. 58, since June 1982. He also became a highly respected community member contributing to various local volunteer organizations. Most notably he joined the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (R.S.V.P.) in 1995. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Colby Brady (2007). He was survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma Brady; two daughters, Dawn Nash and Shawn Lewis; three sons: Lawrence Brady II, Marcus Brady, and Daryl Brady; eight grand- children: Aisha Greenlee, Michael Nash, Marcus Brady, La Krisha Sanders, Travis Brady, Tamika Brady, Toure Brady, and Lawrence Brady III; and ten great- grandchildren. He is truly loved and missed. Memorial Services will be Wednesday, January 28, at 10 a.m. at Saint Stephens Church of God in Christ, San Diego. Interment will be held at 1:30 pm at Miramar Nat'l. Cemetery.
