Mr. Jesse Neal, 90, of Reidsville passed in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15, 2013. Mr. Neal was born on November 2, 1922, in Draper, North Carolina. He was a long time member of the Reidsville, N.C. community. Mr. Neal lived in New York City for several years and returned to Reidsville in early 1970's and stayed for the remainder of his life. He drove a cab in New York City and continued to do so once returning to Reidsville. In 1980, he joined the St. Paul United Methodist Church f where he was a member of the Usher Board . Mr. Neal loved life, family, music and until recent years long distance driving. Jesse Neal married Alberta Sims Williams in 1983, who has since passed away. He is survived by a son, James M. Holderby Sr. (lifetime partner, Norma George) of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; two grandchildren Lisa Renee Holderby-Fox of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, James M. Holderby Jr. of Milford, Massachusetts; two great-grandchildren, Sheyene Desillier of Woburn, Massachusetts, Carley Desillier of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aja Bascomb, also of Woburn Massachusetts. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with a viewing from 11:30 until 12 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Greenview Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Cancer Society. McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
