Mary P. Lockwood of Raleigh passed away at her residence January 22, 2015.
She was born in Greensboro a daughter of the late Howard and Vera Pierce.
Mary graduated from Broughton High School and attended Peace College. Mary was an administrative assistant at the North Carolina Department of Treasury. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh and after Sunday services would enjoy dinner with her husband Arthur at the Lucky 32 or Outback Steakhouse. Mary enjoyed gardening and had a knack for arranging flowers in a vase, creating some beautiful pieces. She also enjoyed ballroom and ballet dancing, old movies and was an avid NC State basketball fan, attending many games with Arthur.
Mary was predeceased by her sister Caroline Powell and her beloved dog Kayla.
She leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Arthur Lockwood of Raleigh, her nephew John Powell of Harrisburg, NC, and niece Mrs. Marylyn Lee of South Boston, VA and her two children Jennifer and Matthew.
A memorial service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary's St Raleigh.
Interment privately held at Montlawn Cemetery Raleigh.
