AL Civil War Service Database: Edmond Martin Winston, a farmer, enlisted May 1861 as a Private in 4th AL Infantry Unit F under Capt Egbert J Jones at the age of 22. He was present at 1st Manassas, Ethams Landing, Seven Pines, Gains Farm,Malvern Hill, Hazle River, 2nd Manassas, and South Mountain.He was wounded at Battle of Sharpsburg in 1862, lost his arm and did no more service after that date. He was on the company roll for Jan & Feb 1863, was reported absent on unlimited furlough, arm amputated, and on the roll for Mar & Apr 1863. He was discharged by order of Gen G W Smith on Nov 8 1862
