Vermont Lieutenant Governor. An attorney in Rutland, he served as Assistant Secretary and Secretary of the Vermont Senate in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Farnsworth was also a horse breeder and an active member of the Rutland County Agricultural Society. Farnsworth was Judge of the Rutland City Court from 1907 to 1909. In 1912 he was an unsuccessful candidate for the US House of Representatives. He was elected to the Vermont Senate as a Republican in 1922 and served one term, also serving as Senate President. In 1923 he moved to Burlington, and in 1924 he won election as Lieutenant Governor, serving one term, 1925 to 1927. Farnsworth's nephew Arthur Austin Farnsworth (1908-1943) was the second husband of actress Bette Davis.

Walter K. Farnsworth, 58 was the son of Jonathan B. and Maria (Hatch) Farnsworth. His body was brought from Rutland to Windsor for burial August 5, 1929 according to burial permit 4593.
