Abeln, James Meagher Age 89. Born in Holdingford, MN, on January 27, 1925, died of old age on April 5.

Jim was a WWII vet. He graduated from the U of MN where he joined the Delta Sig fraternity and made "friends for life". He enjoyed swing dancing and was an avid Vikings fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sertoma Club. His life's work was in quality control and efficiency engineering. After setting quality control standards at Honeywell, he founded A&G Engineering, a consulting firm devoted to increasing production efficiency for his clients. And, as is legendary among his grandchildren, he once had a bear wrestling concession at the State Fair.

Preceded in death by his son, Michael James and daughter Elizabeth. Survived by wife Ethel and first wife Bernice; daughters Nancy Martini (Paul), Julie Hirakami (Yasuyuki), and Emily Aldrich (Kent); and 10 grandchildren Britta and Jack Abeln, Alexander and Nicholas Martini, Michael, Victor, Mary and Patrick Hirakami, and Elsie and Max Aldrich.

Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 13505 Excelsior Blvd. in Minnetonka at 11:30 am on Friday, April 11. Visitation at 10:30 am and lunch immediately following Mass.
