Richard Charles Loomis, 45, of Rexburg, died Thursday January 22, 2015. He was born July 12, 1969 to Ron and Peggy Loomis in Palm Springs, California.

Richard joined the military straight out of high school. After his time in the United States Army he joined the National Guard. He loved his years of service and his family always enjoyed his stories of long winters in New York and his time in Korea.

He married Amy Frederick in Hillsboro, Oregon on May 15, 2000. Richard was a devoted husband and loving father to his four children. He worked hard to support his family. He found great joy in serving them and others around him.

Richard joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a year after he and his wife were married. A year later he took his family to the Portland, Oregon temple to be sealed. At church he held various callings from cubmaster and 11 year old scout leader to ward mission leader. His favorite calling was in Scouts and he worked hard to make a difference in the lives of the boys he worked with.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many weekends with his family off-roading in his Jeep. He truly enjoyed exploring the beauty of Idaho and even once took his wife to picnic at the top of a mountain in Kelly Canyon. He also loved camping and when the family lived in Oregon, there was always an annual summer camping trip to Fort Stevens.

He is survived by wife, Amy, and their children, Adrienne (Jonathan) Romrell, Jacob Stafford, Annalina Loomis and Joseph Loomis, all of Rexburg; his father, Ronald (Bonnie) Loomis, of Palm Springs, CA; and his mother, Peggy Lamison, of Huachuca City, AZ.

His is preceded death by his grandparents; and his father-in-law, David Michael Frederick.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Millhollow 3rd Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery with military rites.
