Dolores Eileen Popp Hranitz passed away Friday morning, Jan. 23, 2015, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Indiana, Pa., on June 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Anna and John Popp of Homer City. Dolores is survived by her husband, John R. Hranitz; a son, Dr. John M. Hranitz, of Bloomsburg; daughter, her husband and grandson, Larissa E. and Larry Simon and Benjamin Simon, of Williamsport; and daughter, Ms. Vanessa A. Hranitz, of Frederick, Md.

Dolores worked as a nurse in the Indiana and Fort Wainwright Army Hospitals. She was a Montessori Directoress of the Montessori Children’s House of Bloomsburg, Director of the Health Center, Bloomsburg University, and Master Gardener of Columbia County.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Williamsport.

Dolores was preceded in death by her mother and father, Anna and John Popp, of Homer City; sister, Marie Benz; brothers: Steve Popp, Frank Popp, John Popp, Paul and William Popp.

She is survived by sisters: Elaine Walker of Homer City; Anna Mae Stehnach and her husband Paul, of Warren, Ohio; and brothers: George Popp and his wife, Phyllis, of Homer City; Richard Popp and his wife, Margaret, of Indiana; and Peter Popp and his wife, Sherry, of Atlanta, Ga.

Dolores loved the time she spent gardening, especially her love for flowers, which filled nearly every nook and cranny of the home and farm she loved. Her love of her church will always be remembered through the flowers and the work she did in support of her church.

A visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane, Williamsport, followed a funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Very Reverend Father Daniel C. Kovalak officiating.

A visitation will follow 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Frederick C. Bowser Funeral Home, 4606 Old U.S. Highway 1195, Homer City, with a Parastas Service at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, a visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Frederick C. Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana.
