Jackie Rutherford, 79, passed away after an extended illness Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Florida Hospital Lake Placid, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m.
Friday, January 7, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV by Pastor Fred Ferguson. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. He was born September 29, 1931 at Genoa, WV, a son of the late Spence and Emma Jackson Rutherford.
He was a Maintenance Supervisor for the U.S. Government and former member of the Twelvepole Valley Baptist Church.
Jackie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Era and a distinguished U. S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War Era.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Mills; brothers, James Wallace Rutherford and John Franklin Rutherford. Survivors include his wife, Dannie Carolyn Meeks Rutherford; two sons, Jack N. Rutherford and wife Monica of Winter Springs, Fl. and William J. Rutherford and wife Debbie of Newport, OH; two brothers, Joe Donald Rutherford and wife Nancy of Belmont, CA, Bill Rutherford and wife Frances of Bellefontaine, OH; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Rutherford of Wayne, WV; grandchildren include Meagan Clark and husband Jordan of Nashville, TN, Morgan Rutherford of Pensacola, Fl., Zachary Rutherford of Florida State University.
