D.J. (Boo) Blackburn, former baseball player
D.J. (Boo) Blackburn of Waco, a former professional baseball player, died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 82. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Waco Memorial Park, Monsignor Mark Deering officiating.
Mr. Blackburn was born Sept. 1, 1910 in Mount Calm. He served in the U.S. Army and played baseball for teams such as the Waco Packers. Served in the 94th Infantry Division in Europe during WWII. See http://www.94thinfdiv.com/Taps/94Taps_bi-bl.html He also was a basketball and football referee in the Southwest Conference for 28 years. He was an electrician and a member of Local Union 72 IBEW.
Survivors include many friends.
