MARION, Va. Bonnie Barker, age 89, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at her home in Marion, Virginia. Bonnie was one of a kind. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Barker retired after more than thirty years from District III. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and attending her Sunday school class. Bonnie loved to be in the outdoors working in her flowers or the garden. Though she was small in stature, she left a large impact on the lives of so many people in her family, her church and through her work. We'll miss you, Bonnie Barker. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barker; parents, Jerry and Corgia Parks Murray; brother, Allen Murray; and sister, Carleen Clark. Bonnie is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Barker Berry and husband, Richard of Chilhowie, Virginia; one son, William Dennis Barker and wife, Golda; one sister-in-law, Marlene Murray; one brother-in-law, James L. Clark all of Marion, Virginia; two granddaughters, Sherry Wolfe of Verona, Virginia and Christy Bise and husband, Danny of Marion, Virginia; one step-granddaughter, Kelly Stevens of Pocomoke City, Maryland; one great-granddaughter, Abby Bise of Marion, Virginia; four step-great-granddaughters of Pocomoke City, Maryland; and one niece, Tammy Harrison of Marion, Virginia. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 8 p.m. at Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, Atkins, Virginia with Pastor Justin Hall officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to : Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, c/o Treasurer, 132 Churchland Drive, Atkins, VA 24311 or to St. Jude, Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
