Services for Curtis Lamar Amberson, 81, of Piedmont will be Friday at 2 p .m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Don Henley and Dr. Glenn Conner officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will recieve friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Amberson died Tuesday at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Amberson of Piedmont; two daughters , Brenda Kay Woods of Alexandria and Lisa Chapman of Pell City; a son, Jerry Wayne Amberson; three sisters, Gert Prater, Olene Arrington and Orene Hamrick, all of Piedmont; a brother, Radford Amberson of Piedmont; four grandchildren, Benjie Amberson, John Woods, Michael Woods and Curtis Chapman; and three great-grandchildren, Caleigh Jane Amberson, Hunter Amberson and Peyton Amberson.
Pallbearers will be Frank Ledbetter, Frank Douthit, John Woods, Michael Woods, Benjie Amberson, Leon Garrett and Curtis Chapman.

Mr. Amberson was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont. He was a retired businessman and a former member of Piedmont City School Board. He served eight years on the Piedmont City Council and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Piedmont and the American Legion for more than 50 years.
